    Which one?

I currently have a 24" W Viewsonic, and am looking to get another, but not sure if I should go High quality CRT or High quality LCD?

    Which one?

I don't care about space.. it's not an issue.. I just want the highest quality , and truest picture possible.

If money is an object, get a good CRT. If you can spend a few dollars get a LCD. Nice ones are every bit as good, and better in many ways, than a CRT now.

Go for one of the high end Dells, the Apple Cinema Displays or one of the Lacie or Eizo displays and you will never go back to a CRT again.

I've used high end Viewsonics and I would take my 2407WFP everyday of the week.

I could argue that the other way. A lot of people still hang on to the notion that CRTs are better than LCDs and its just not true.

Virtually every high end pre-press office around is now exclusively using LCDs because they have color just as good and accurate as any CRT and are much more stable (dont require profiling as often), use up much less space, use far less energy and put off far less heat than CRTs.

At the low end dollar area, CRTs still are better, but once you get into the better LCDs, they are as good or better as virtually any CRT out there.

they're ok, but high end CRT's are better than high end LCD's. That doesn't mean that LCD's are useless or shit for qaulity, we all know that. Life is about sacrafice, we all want smaller foot print monitors that use less energy et, so we pay for that, instead of paying for the best image possible.

Most don't need the best image possible either, few would actually notice the difference. I switched to an LCD almost 2 years ago with a Dell 2405 and its just fine. Someday I'll switch to the ACD 30's, but theres way more important things before then.

But to say LCDs are better than anything else is just plain wrong, especially if you have the room, as you could save a shitload of cash on a CRT these days.

I didnt say blindly that LCDs are better than CRTs, I said the high end ones are as good as or better than virtually all CRTs.

its just as wrong to blatantly say that CRTs are better than LCDs as you did. If that were the case, mags such as SI and other companies with very important pre-press departments wouldnt be using LCDs. Quality is the most important thing there and they would be using the best regardless of cost. So the fact they find LCDs to be as good as what they could get in a CRT, they use them and reap the other advantages the LCDs bring to the table.

I just dont like strong statements that seem so absolute, it doesnt really tell the whole story to those looking for answers. :)

Silly kids. Anyone this day and age who isn't running the VGA cable straight into their optic nerve doesn't even know what true color is.
