So i have started looking into buying a new television recently and was wondering if there were any experts on this forum? The major things I am considering are 720p vs 1080p,name brand, and contrast ratio. This is the one I looked at today.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Plasma will give you a better picture overall. Plasma produces a true black vs a more purple black image on lcd. This will give you greater detail in darker scenes, and will also help with overall color reproduction.

    For plasma I'd recommend
    Pioneer
    Panasonic
    Samsung

As far as 1080p it really depends on how close you are sitting to the tv. Most people don't sit close enough to benefit from 1080p. Also, as far as content, HD-DVD and Blu-ray are the only media that support that resolution.
