Desk space is of absolutely no concern to me. My desk is built to have a huge ass monitor in it. Are there any huge benefits of LCD over CRT other than space, on 21"+ screens?

A CRT is a hell of a lot cheaper, especially at 21". LCD is nicer on the eyes though.

If you're really picky and choosey, yes, CRT is better than LCD. But the LCD technology has changed so much that some monitors offer refresh rate as low as 6ms. CRT has 0. Your mind cannot comprehend anything more than 30fps. You'll be fine.

Digital LCD > screwing with geometry settings on a CRT you'll never get quite right

    LCD.

Dont be a fag and buy a CRT. You will not notice the difference. Ever.

LCD is far superior in terms of viewing quality. Seriously. FAR superior. Have any CRT hookers looked at both?

:werd: If I could afford two 19" LCD's that can do 1600x1200, then they'd be on my desk instead of these two CRT's.

Nope. And at $500 Canadian each, they're out of my price range anyway.

LCD's are much easier on your eyes. It's not about aesthetics. CRT's have better viewing angles and color though. It's a bit more difficult to correctly calibrate color on an LCD

i dont by any means consider myself a CRT 'hooker'... but i do look at both. i use a Dell Inspiron 9100 at work (running 1920x1200 widescreen goodness), and have a 19" CRT at home that might be doing somewhere around 1900x1600... but i think its one below that.

i would love to have a new LCD screen. when i go home at night i really see the difference. i remember back in teh day when LCDs sucked so much for reading alot of text and shit, that i hated them. but not anymore. i almost prefer this hunk of 10lb laptop just cuz of its better screen over my gaming rig i built myself with a CRT.

one day i'll have a nice LCD or dual LCD setup. ... after i'm married and have money again. lol.

I am staring at a Viewsonic G220fb as someone mentioned with a Dell 2005FPW sitting next to it and I prefer the CRT display anyday.

Not to mention it will run at 2048 by 1536...

I wish someone would make high resolution desktop LCDs. Its a joke that all 17-19" LCDs are 1280x1024 while smaller laptop displays have better resolutions. I can't believe no manufacturer can see a market in premium high resolution displays. Hell I'd even buy an Apple if they made one.

i actually prefer nice crt monitors over lcd's. there's just somthing about them that i like more and i think that crt's are actually easier on my eyes than an lcd.

flat-panel CRT is what i use, great screen.

but i'd trade it for a good quality LCD (and pay the difference) in a heartbeat.
