lcd monitor

    i'm in the market for an lcd monitor. which brands should i look at and which ones should i stay away from? my budget is <600. i currently have a 19 inch nec fe991 crt monitor and want probably an 18inch lcd to complement it. any recomendations? thanks!

    the biggest factors to look at when considering an LCD are:
    1)Resonse time (This is similar to a refresh rate on a CRT and will give you a good idea on what kind of ghosting you will see. The lower the better)
    2)Contrast Ratio (This measures how dark the blacks look compared to a white background. The higher the better)
