personally i am not feeling the flashing boxes on the items, and the different color boxes under the items too, just seems too busy

  3. Love the idea, and the design works well. Not sure about the flashing boxes, but everything else flows well - good stuff.

I agree with fewer items, maybe the 1 large item and 4 smaller ones max.

Only real issue I see is with IE6 compatibility. The content hangs down pretty low, ironically lower than my window size. I didn't realize it finished loading till I looked at the scroll bar and decided to look below:

Your designer sucks. If you want anyone to take the site seriously, which I assume you do with such big prizes, you might wanna hire someone else.

There are at least 4 things I would change just at first glance.

Assuming you were forced to go with this framework (I personally would start over from scratch)...

Top nav sucks. Doesn't match the feel, stroke, and gradient of anything else.

One thing I am pleased with is this:

That is perhaps the only thing I as a user feel emits a trusting energy. Everything else just makes me think it is some shitty scam site where bots win everything.

An example of something that looks like ass is this:

But I am torn, because I also like the combo of the dark navy and pale yellow/green on the right where the login is. I feel that color combo is perhaps more professional and unique and should be the central color scheme.

Bottom line, more attention needs to be paid to color usage.

I take it your designer isn't much of a usability expert. :hs:
