It's based off a twitter clone script, but I'm hoping to target a smaller niche group of people. It's hard modifying the look because it's so heavily wrapped around php code. As more people start using it, I'll hire a graphics designer to make a good logo for it. Then later hire developers to rewrite the code fresh with new features.

I'm having just one problem right now. Google ads show up fine in the lower right box in IE and firefox, but fails to show up in Chrome.

Let me know what you guys think

What niche are you targetting? What are the benefits of using this instead of twitter?

I don't think you are going to need a designer because in all honesty, what the fuck is its purpose.

I'm still figuring out the niche. I just want it all polished and ready to go before I promote it.

People in here really need to stop making websites based on other sites (like twitter, flickr, facebook, clones.)
    Be original, make good shit

You have to start somewhere. It may not be that successful however the amount of capital you actually need to start these "experiments" is minute compared to an actual store front.

In many situations taking someones idea can help you better understand it. Therefore, come up with unique ideas or solutions to the preexisting problems.

Take Blizzard Entertainment for example, they NEVER do anything first. They are just the best at taking things from everyone else polishing 10x better then they ever dreamed of and putting a slightly "unique" touch to it. They never do a "revolutionary" kind of game...I think the original Diablo may have been there only fairly unique creation, but it was developed by Blizzard North who had a different design philosophy than Blizzard.

As picasso said "Bad artists copy. Good artists steal"

    Step 1 - Have a plan.
    Step 2 - Complete plan.

Not knowing a goal for your site and still "polishing" it is a bit backwards dont you think?

    Hate to say it, but:

It's buddypress, with a target market that doesn't suit the name.. not to mention it's another idea that's been done to death :dunno:

There's too many green sites with "green" in their names. A lot of times names don't match the site's theme anyways. There's no real community for eco people. :dunno:

And there's heaps of eco/green social networks. Hippies love to show off how hippyish they are.

yeah it'll be hard to promote. :o I'm hoping to build up good content that will drive them to the site.

I'm hoping people get the idea of bragging about how hardcore eco they can be. :hsd:
