Dammit, how bad do I want to build an AR22 now. Very tempting, especially when my Bakersfield dealer only charges $5 + background check.

Thats a good price, but I havent been able to find anyone around the MD area that will do transfers for reasonable amounts on anything new (only used or on anything they cant get you new). It totally defeats being able to take advantage of good pricing on things like this.

I am thinking about slowly gathering things to start building an AR...would this be a decent lower to start with on a rifle that I am looking to spend $750-1000 on?

I guess I need a lesson on decent lowers.

Any lower will be decent. Most come from the same shops. The only reason you would want a certain lower over another is for the picture or finish color as some are darker than others.

Lauer makes perfectly fine lowers; if you are wanting to build an AR, start with this.

Building one for $700 will be no problem depending if you go A2 or flattop style with optics.
    Lower: $130
    LPK: $60
    Buttstock: $50
    Upper: $450

These are not even the cheapest prices you can find. Check out EE on ar15.com that is what I did for both ARs.

Yeah, I think I want to go flat top with a flip up. If I end up wanting some optics, I'll do that later. Thanks for the help :wiggle:

    That's basically it.

You'll want to contact the FFL first and make sure that they are willing to receive the firearm. After that, complete your order with the online vendor and have them ship it to the FFL. The FFL will take care of the paperwork and background check.

Should not stop you from buying one because you are in CA. Hasn't stopped a lot of us. CA is supposed to be the state bringing the most ARs as of the past year or so. Not sure if that is true, but I believe it due to the loophole since beginning of 06.

With FFL fees in my area... $95 + tax

I think I'll just wait for the next gunshow... All the "big four" have good receivers... might as well pick one with the logo you like.

But still an AR lower for $95 aint bad at all.

I doubt you'll find a lower at a gun show for less than $130.00 without tax and fees.
