I need a pickup to haul shit in. My only other vehicle is an '05 Cobalt Coupe. So, I was looking through craigslist and I found this. I'm fine with something I have to work on. I really want a muscle car but I need a bed.. and I hate Elcaminos. This body style of truck appeals to me and the early 70s models are way more $. Not a bad looking truck though.. opinion.. comments.. ?

How bad can it be for $1300?

Since it's not a DD, go for it.

Is that a shortbox? They sell better when you go to get rid of it.

Looks like a nice buy for $1300, even though the body is probably fucked up under that paint job.

yeah, but you can build those completely from a catalog so new body panels are easily found.

ive got a '77 long bed 4x4 im working on. parts are cheap as hell, they run forever and where the rust is, the panels are easily replaced. worst repair and its not even that bad is the cab corners and rockers.

A friend of mine made one into a muscle truck with his father. They repainted it Hugger Orange, 4-speed manual, dropped in a built Buick 455, sport-side bed, Cragar wheels. It was pretty sick for a budget truck.

That truck had some serious bondo in it.. had to pass. Here's what's next on the list of things to look at. I really like this one.

    -------
"This 64 needs alot of body work. It has a couple dents in the bed and rusted rockers and a couple spots on the front fenders, inner fenders, the front corner of the doors, and the back of the bed around the tail lights. It has a 90's 350 and TH 400. It runs great and drives down the road. The wheels are new and I just bought a $1000 worth of parts from LMC. Which includes NEW rockers, inner rockers, Chrome grille, bezels, front bumper and hardware. All brand new in the box. The cab floor has been replaced and has no holes in it. Once the cab corners and rockers are replaced the cab will be good. The rest is just bolt on unless you think you can fix the bed. The bed is pretty solid besides the rear crossmember and corners. The truck has no tailgate. All the lights, wipers, turn signals, and heater works. The motor has a Holley 4bbl, aluminum intake,HEI w/ Accel Super Coil, Flex fan, newer radiator, headers and glass packs, 12 bolt rear end, new u joints and carrier bearing and a few other new parts. Very good motor it does not smoke or use oil, it runs strong and always fires right up."

Yeah.. it's a $2000 truck. The guy is including new rocker panels with it though. You must have missed the description of the truck all together.

That's not a bad driver for $2000, and if you go to the trouble of fixing the rust you might be able to get your money back after a few years.

Spending $2k to drive that to work beats spending $4k on a 10 year old F150.
