im thinking of selling my white macbook 2.16ghz 160gig and picking up something with some more power and a bigger screen. should i pick up a used loaded, mbp and a license for osx 10.6 or wait it out and get a new base model mbp?

actually wait, the newer ones have more memory capacity if you need it, so maybe base your choice on that?

the new ones are all glitzy and nice but ive handled one and i just dont know if its worth the price. the late 08 models are cheaper and still have the quality feel.. only thing id miss would be the glass track pad. my trackpad was shiny from using it so much until they replaced the bottom case.

new ones can go up to 6 or 8, I think.

old ones might be able to go to 6, but 4 gigs is the advertised / suggested max. (i'm happy with 4 anyway, but some people might want more)

don't think the new unibody MBP's recognize more than 4 at the moment unless you get the 17".

i think 4 gigs would suffice for quite some time. hope there is a price drop in the late 08 mbp when 10.6 comes out.

I traded in my 2.4GHz 15.4" Unibody MBP Glossy for a 17" Early 2008 MBP 2.5GHz Matte w/ AppleCare Extension.

Couldn't be happier. Hated wiping down the glossy screen every other day and getting annoyed by the finger prints on the black frame.
