Laser or No Laser.....for a close quarters situation.

Here is the scenario. you are in a low light (not pitch black) close quarters confrontation. You have to draw your gun in an akward position and shoot (say from the mid area of your body)with one hand. Do you thank a laser on your gun would help out at all in this situation? Assuming this is all happening VERY fast, within seconds.

Honestly, I'd say no. If anything, it would be more of a distraction. And what if the batteries were dead? It would be better to practice pointing and shooting at akward angles, than to rely on a laser. That's just my opinion, though.

Learn to aim and shoot the gun properly and you wouldnt need a laser.

im not going to give a distinct answer, because its one of those situations you'd have to practice to figure out. I imagine that you might be looking too hard for the dot, instead of instinctively firing the weapon at the threat.

Its not like you can see the entire beam, like you can in the movies.. just the dot.. so I'm not so sure itd be a good idea.

night sights are better, and probably the majority of time, in a situation like you explained, the sights arent even used.

I agree. Night sights > Laser > nothing in that situation

You can be pretty accurate with No sights on the weapon and just aligning the back of the gun up at close range.

And the original question didn't give any distances or whether you could get the gun raised up so you could see the sights at all. In that case you'd be just doing point shooting.

I would say within 4-6 ft., and not being able to bring your weapon up.

If you can't bring your weapon up, then it dosen't matter if you have night sights or no sights.

For close quarters, aren't you supposed to practice instinctual point of aim?

Night sights are useful, but lasers....seem kinda mall to me.
