Yes, LaRue stuff is expensive. I ordered what is possibly the most expensive optic mount ever created, at $215. For the optic I am using (Millet DMS-1), I couldn't find any other mounts that got it forward enough except for the LaRue SPR-E. Now that I have it, it really is a nice mount.

The awesome part is all the cool stuff LaRue sent me! The extra stuff really made my day. Here are a few of the cool items I found in the box:

    1) LaRue hat

    2) Tactical Beverage Entry Tool

This thing can open twist off bottles using the teeth, pry off bottles and cans. Sweet!

    3) Bumper sticker that says "God Bless Our Troops...Especially Our Snipers!". It's black with white letters

    4) Dillo Dust - Apparently it's a meat seasoning! Next time I fire up the grill I'm going to break this out!

    5) Tiny field bottle of gun lubricant.

They also gave a color catalog. I'm very impressed with the service!

90% of the time when you order stuff you recieve only what you order. Nothing more or less. I wasn't expecting any freebees, so it was a nice suprise to see all that stuff in the box!

ADM makes a mount that has a lot of the same dimensions/functions as the
LaRue but a different clamping mechanism. Both are about the same price
    though

Were you the person that posted the DMS-1 in the ADM mount? That pic is what got me thinking about buying one myself (which I ended up doing). I looked at the ADM mount and thought it looked nice. I felt like it didn't allow the scope to go as far forward as the SPR-E, but it was still a really nice mount. In any case, thanks for the motivation to step up and pick up the DMS-1  I'm looking forward to sighting it in.

I run their SPR mount for my trijicon accupoint. It does what it says and it is repeatable. I had a MOA mount previously and although it did not look as fancy it was damn good too. Sold it to my buddy with my old accupoint at a screaming deal to get him started in 3 gun.

I just got their vertical fore grip yesterday and the box had the same stuff. Hat, dillo, meat rub, couple random posts and 2 bumper stickers.

I like LaRue's products. I like their customer service. I used to like Mark LaRue.

Yeah, Mark made a big ass of himself over the whole ADM thing on AR15.com. I really lost a lot of respect for him as a person during that time. It puts me in a real bind when I think of buying their products since I do hate to support someone that acted so poorly.

However, they do make great crap, the CS is wonderful and so I own quite a few of their products. Its just Mark has made me think twice before hitting the "buy" button, though I usually still do.

    Quite the predicament. :big grin:

Do you have a link or some cliffs for the "ADM thing"?

My personal experiences with Mark LaRue have not been positive though LaRue does make solid products.

If you want pics of my own I can get them when I get home. Here it is on their website though..

I got the introductory pricing of like $80 shipped with all the other BS. A little pricey but I like having the different options.

I think most of it is stickied at the top of their industry forum on arfcom. He seems pretty outspoken about stuff he doesn't like and generally I don't care for business owners who feel like they have to talk bad about competitors. If your product is that great you shouldn't need to. But it seems like in general the ar15 industry is kind of dirty with plenty of downright scummy guys so perhaps a guy that is less than diplomatic isn't the worst you can do. You could always buy from g&r

Don't talk shit about Mark on ar15.com. They'll crucify you over there.
