Sure I can order one but I need one now unfortunately so tomorrow I am going to go pick up a new laptop but I bet I won't find one that has it. Should I get a PCMCIA type or USB-MPI ?

cliifs: current laptop motherboard is dead need a new laptop now.

The Dell Latitude E5500's that I ordered this summer had them, but I doubt you'll find one of those in store.
What are you hooking up? Have you tried those serial to USB adapters? I have one from startech that I use when I need to use console on cisco switches.

Cisco switch. I never tried the cards or usb ones so not sure how well they work. My other laptop already had the port on it so no worries but its dead :hs: hate having to buy stuff in a hurry

PCMCIA? That's some seriously dead technology at this point.

Most of the Dell Latitudes E-series can have a legacy port expander snapped onto the docking port. FYI in case you come across the same problem in the future.
