I just bought a new dell inspiron 1720 (17") and i got it with the black finish...which for some reason is the only one with no scratch resistant coating. So im wondering is there any product I can buy, such as a skin or something, that will protect it from scratches but will also not damage the finish of the computer, or leave sticky shit all over it. Also, the finish on my laptop loves fingerprints and its hard as hell to clean them (i havent figued out how yet) cause its a matte, flat black finish. I was looking on ebay and saw skins like this

not saying i like the design, just wondering if anyone has any experience or feedback on using one...or any suggestions for me.

    thank you OT

It's just a vinal decal.... no different than using bumper stickers.

I've had a couple skins custom-made for me. They're okay. The vinal color will scratch with usage, however.

if you remove them, yes. Just use goop-off.

If the decal has glue on it, it will leave residue. If it's static-cling, it won't leave residue.

Goo Gone is pretty safe on plastic. Goof Off will dissolve it.
