I'm looking to buy an inspiron 6000. Right now through Dell Canada I can get the best value for my money using the $100 coupon so I figure the time to buy a laptop for school is now. I plan on using the laptop for mostly going on the internet, downloading and listening to music, and running programming apps (java, c++ programs, etc.). The coupon though only applies to a 6000 that has a 400mhz fsb bus. Now I'm just wondering, is this going to be alright for my needs? I searched around on the net for a bit and couldn't find an answer. And also, I know programs like data studio max and editing software like that is pretty demanding on the computer, are programming programs also that demanding? Or far less?

btw, this is what I plan on loading the computer up with.
    1.6ghz processor with 400mhz fsb
    80gig hard drive
    wsxga+ display
    512ram (1 dimm)
    integrated video card

I'm guessing based on what happens on desktop processors that there's probably a performance difference of 5-10% at most between the same speed 400- and 533-bus Pentium M. The 1.6 is a pretty quick processor, so I doubt you would really notice a difference between the two.
