Alienwares are overpriced pieces of shit. Best to go with Jolly here and go with a kickass Lenovo.

you're missing a lot. Movies can run on a shitastic GMA card.... so don't worry about movies.

as for games, you can get a T-series with an ATi Radion X1400 128MB, ATi FireGL V5250 256MB, nVidia Quadro NVS 140M 128MB, or the big-daddy nVidia Quadro FX 570M 256MB.

Try the inspirion line...I have one and use it as my primary gaming rig and it's awesome! IMO the XPS line is overpriced but supposedly has optimized pipelines so it's "supposed" to handle games better. I dunno, mines awesome and I love it.

    It's the Inspirion E1705
    Core 2 Duo 2Ghz
    2Gb Ram
    100GB HD
    Nvidia 7900 Go Video Card

idk normall i would say that gaming and dell shouldn't be used in the same sentace and also I would normally think gaming and laptop shouldn't be used in the same sentace so a gaming laptop from dell sounds like a bad idea to me.

a friend of mine has the xps and it doesn't play games very well. laptop keyboards don't have a good feel to them and the screens tend not to be fast enough not to ghost. my friends xps ghosts really badly. he may have a deffective screen but it is horible to watch him play on it.

on a side note doesn't dell own alienware now??

    1. One of my friends has that same computer and he hasn't had any problems with it. I'd prefer something smaller, personally.

    2. Of course the Alienware machine has similar specs to the Dell XPS. Dell owns Alienware.

I was skeptical till I saw my friends Dell Inspirion 1505 so I checked the price on the 1705 and it was in my budget and had great financing. It's the best computer I've ever worked with and it's my primary gaming rig.

I don't get any ghosting but notice I upgraded to the top of the line card, at the time, and had plenty of RAM. I think these comps have shared memory so for gaming, I wanted as much RAM as I could afford.

I'm not sure why your friends comp doesn't work well for games. Mine rox.

We really should have a sticky with everyone's preferences in the first post...that way jolly and I don't have to post the exact same stuff 3 times a week. lol
