My laptop (IBM T43) seems a lot noiser than usual. I think its one of the main fans inside. Is there anything I can do to check or remedy the problem?

    I'm currently using a Thinkpad T-60P.

I wasn't able to find a clear cut guide, but there is a way to check the fan.

On the bottom, there should be 6 or 8 screws on the front half, most of which will have a little keyboard symbol next to it.

What you could do, if you want, is take out the screws. This will allow the front panel to be taken off, followed by the keyboard.

From here, you should be able to see the fan, and check to see if there are any conflictions. I'm not sure whether or not this will void any warranties. :nono:

Alternatively, you might consider calling the manufacturer, and sitting on tech support for a few hours, only to find the 'technician' is incompetant.

Does the sound quiet down after a little while?

Not that I've noticed. Sounds like its rubbing up against something.

Canned air to the vents always does the trick for me.
