laptop battery question (going away for 8 weeks)

I'm going away for 8 weeks, should I

  1. charge my laptop battery all the way up before I leave

    With a Li-Ion pack you do NOT want to let it sit completely drained for an extended period of time. If it's an option, I'd leave your laptop plugged in and off, so that the battery remains conditioned. If that is not an option, then charge it fully and leave it.

    Draining it completely and then not using it for an extended period of time will likely leave you with an impaired or possibly useless battery pack.

    75-85% charge, store in a cool dry place

    charge it, unplug and leave out of the sun.

    I've heard 40% charge is optimal for when manufactorers ship items to stores/consumers. It's the best for battery health, I'm pretty sure it was 40, coulda been 60% lol
    try google on that

    either way, if you keep it around 50% you're good
