My sister bought an HP laptop about 2 weeks ago and its been working fine. The problem is that the battery status shows that it only charges to 69% (on balanced). On high performance it goes to 64%. Is this a battery problem or is the software not reading the battery charge right? It was charging to 100% when it was purchased.

Try and reseat the battery. If it still does that, return it for another one.
