recently my fan has been makign oscillating noises when turning on. like a mmm mmm mmm. and you can feel slight vibrations in the case.

what could be the problem? fan wearing out(how long are they supposed to last)? fan is dirty? fan is loose?

it sounds like a leaf blower now. im thinking its the dust. not sure how to clean it. anyone have any experience in this. maybe pull open half the laptop and use compressed air?

Probably dust caked on the blades, or the bearings are going bad and it's wobbling. If you cant see the fan from the exhaust vent, you can take it apart to clean it.

Some manufacturer's websites (Dell and IBM from personal experience) have guides on how to access internal components of the laptop. These are very useful for finding out how to take the laptop apart then cleaning it.
