I just lapped my heatsink and I am quite impressed with the results. I am using a ThermalTake Venus 12 with Arctic Silver 5 on an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ and my temps were:

    Idle: ~34C
    Light Load: ~39C
    Heavy Load: ~51C

    After the lapping:

    Idle: ~32C
    Light Load: ~37C
    Heavy Load: ~47C

Not to bad for $16 and about an hour of work.
