If you are somewhere you often go, such as a gym or a coffee house, and you see a guy who you and him always exchange "hellos", and this time, as soon as you see him, he winks at you and smiles.

Would you find this cute and charming, or would it seem immature? Are winks outdated?

I don't think I'd say I'd find it 'cute and charming' but it wouldn't bother me...No different than a small hand-wave+smile.

well, i'm not a lady but a wink seems like something my grandpa would do... then again, i'm not sure of another way to get that message across.

Nah, winking is not required. Smiling is good.

i'm a guy but i'm sure it depends on the girl and how well you can pull it off. I could see it working since it isn't used much these days.

Smiling and eye contact is where its at when initially meeting, but once the conversation starts try not to grin like a mad man. Constant smiling can make people uneasy.

To me, winks aren't for saying hi, they are for when you're sharing a private joke without saying a word
