Our 9 month old puppy just suddenly died. My girlfriend is taking it pretty hard. She was super attached. She's not in some deep state of depression, but I just want to keep doing what I can to make her happy again. Already went out and got her favorite comfort foods and movies. That helped a lot. Any other suggestions?

    Bye bye, Maximus :wtc: :sadwavey:

^ wow that made me cry and i'm a tough cookie to crack..

if i were in that situation, would want hugs and cuddling, and lots of them.. other than that, time is what would heal the most.

We have no idea. He was perfectly healthy and happy the night before. Went for a long run and ate a big dinner... he just never got up in the morning. The vets can't seem to figure it out yet either.

I'm going to show her Rainbow Bridge later tonight. Thanks everyone.

 I'm so sorry, that hurts me :wtc:

You're already doing a great job. Honestly she just needs some time. Have you spoken with her about replacing said puppy? I know somtimes people are either all for filling the void with a new dog and others very against moving on too soon.

Personally if it were me I would be ecstatic to be surprised with a new puppy.

When our last dog died and we had her cremated, that poem was written on the back of a card that they gave us with the urn. It took like a month before I could read it without tearing up :hs:

    Thanks everyone.

It's amazing how attached you can get to an animal. In all my efforts to try to make my SO feel better, I kind of forgot how much it was affecting me too. I think springing a new puppy into our lives would be a bit much. Max was more than a handful, especially because he had just learned how to open doors. I think for now we'll just miss him.

I would get another puppy, but different breed so it isn't a replacement but a new friend

I still miss my dog and it's been ~5 years :wtc:
