Do the ladies of the VAG (and general public i assume) feel that, New Years eve in particular is a 'Couples Holiday'?

If so, why? I mean, everyone loves a kiss at midnight, obviously. Everyone likes to get laid on New Years eve I assume... but is there any more than that? Maybe, 'starting the new year right' type of thinking, per se?

Reason I ask, i've had 3 different single girls express to me how much it 'sucks' that they'll be spending New years with out someone. All 3 have asked me to hang out/go out w/ them for said day.

Why? Any reasons? Just looking for thoughts/opinions, poll isnt a necessary.

Because it sucks being alone or a 3rd wheel/5th wheel on NYE...

I really must be from a different planet or something...I have never once thought (even when single) that New Years Eve is an event for couples. Shit, when I was single it was one of my favorite "holidays" because it was a game to see who I could meet at the party/bar/club that night to kiss at midnight :dunno:

People are always going to be mopey and pathetic though I guess about being single in relation to certain events in the year.

:werd: see thats how I looked at it.

Ive been single for the past 3-4 new years and ive never thought 'damn, I wish I had a girl with me'. Id much rather go into the night and see what comes out of it, kiss at midnight being the 'goal' I guess? :dunno:

I always thought of New Years as being a holiday for single people and couples. The single people get to try to find someone new in a fun atmosphere to potentially share a New Year's kiss with and the couples get to ring in a new year with someone they love :dunno:

    wat.

New Years is an institutionalized kiss-a-random-chick event. what more could a single person ask for?

Halloween, obviously :mamoru: but this is second on the top-10 days of the year to be available.

I think people get all teary eyed over it because, in retrospect, it's party of the holiday season. And, some people who are single around the holidays feel a little blue about it. I think it just comes with the whole holiday package. To me, being single on NYE means having one too many drinks with friends and seeing what lucky man gets to be the recipient of my tongue at midnight..

But, I did always hate being the 3rd/5th/7th wheel on NYE with my friends and their SO only because their agendas were always different from mine. Never depressing though!

This year I'm spending NYE in Orlando and ringing in the new year on New Years day at a football game.. what a freaking awesome New Years!!!!! (oh, and my boyfriend will be there - I guess that's gotta count for something)

 I am getting old though. This year I was all "Honey, maybe we should just stay in for NYE. If I drink too much it's going to ruin the game for me." :hsugh:

((Clearly, I still intend on going out on NYE though.))

Yeah this is actually the first NYE that I'm in a relationship. I agree with beer, that was half the fun of that night, seeing who I could get to make out with me by midnight.

Honestly, there's things for both couples and singles to do on NYE.

NYE while in a relationship would be boring

It's just another excuse to get drunk. Which I am fine with. Though I do notice that it tends to swing towards the couples holiday pole.

I have about 3-4 women who want me to spend NYE with them, when in all honesty I want to go party by myself and have a random kiss. :o

see this is where im at and hence the thread.

This girl im REALLY feeling from my job was constantly talking about how she didnt wanna 3rd wheel NYE with her friends this year. She mentioned it about 3-4 times, and after talking to her all weekend, im pretty sure i'd have NO issues about hanging with her. and im 99% sure the feeling is mutual and we'd both be getting laid .

BUT, thats whats bothering me... do I wanna go into NYE KNOWING I have a piece of ass waiting? Or do I really just wanna try and meet someone that night?

It's funny this thread was just made

Emily and I were just having a talk yesterday about what the hell we want to do for NYE. Then, she goes, "Omg, this is the first time you've been single on NYE since you were 17 :eek4:" Me, after thinking about it for a second, realized I had been with the same two people for the last almost 6 years of my life, realized she was correct. After I thought about it a little more, I got a bit of the singledom blues momentarily, and realized I DO associate it with being a "couples" holiday.

So yeah, I do think of it as a 'couple's' holiday sorta, but that's also probably just because I've been conditioned to :hs:

i'm really not interested in any of them long term. I'm in a rough place, because I know I'm moving to another country in about a month so I really can't afford to get attached to anyone anyway, or get them attached to me.

I've got a date with one tomorrow night for drinks. So I'm not exactly helping the situation either.
