I got an L42A1 Sniper Rifle in the mail today. Seems to look like a pretty good gun. Looks good in the collection with all the other sniper rifles. It came with the original transit case and scope and mount numbered to the gun. Research states that this gun was issued to B Company, 2nd Battalion, Royal Regiment Fusiliers.

    Pics below.

I also have a No.4 Mk. 1(t). It shoots very nicely.

Price was about average for Enfield snipers. This one was a little under $3K do to condition. For some reason not many of this model was imported I guess because not many were made. It is believed only a 100 are in the U.S.

Very nice, I'm interested to see how it shoots. I've hit a man-sized target center-mass at 800 yards with my No.4 MK1 with iron sights. :eek3:

The target was blue, all I really saw was a blue pin-dot. I had someone with a spotting scope telling me if I was hitting it, took about 5 rounds of slight adjustments to finally get a hit. After that, it wasn't that hard, wind was barely blowing.

I've done it with an L81A1 and L81A2 at all ranges up to 800, have also fired No.4 with just as much accuracy as L81's at 600yrds. Can't imagine it would be much more difficult. :dunno:

All with Iron Sights as well.

Yeah, those ladder sights are awesome. You might be the person to ask, do you know a place that sells some original scopes that they used on enfields? I wanna scope mine, but I don't want to use some rubber-plated garbage, or something like that.

my enfield's sights are the 300/600 yard(meter?) sights. it's a pain in the ass to shoot the thing inside 300 yards, because you're shooting so far off.

I'm afraid not, I am from the UK and these puppies are hard to come by (let alone own due to laws around here :()

My experiences with these rifles were during my brief spell in the Armed forces :)

my best friend just got his C&R. man, the fucking stack of literature they send you is fat. and the detailed list of all C&R firearms...i now know that post 1946 firearms can still be C&R. basically, if the firearm derives a majority of its value from rarity or collectibility, it can possibly be considered a C&R. to me, that would automatically make all machine guns in the US C&R, because there aren't very many, and the number will never go up, only down.
