I'm currently only taking protein powder and carb powder, but a friend at my gym suggested I start taking L-Arginine to help with blood flow, which helps muscles grow. He and another friend take Fast Twitch, which I believe has l-arginine, along with caffeine and some creatine in it. I don't really want all that caffeine, which is why he suggested Now brand L-Arginine.

Is this a good supplement to take? Are there any side effects? Does anyone else here use it?

And also, what is the difference between Now brand L-Arginine, and L-Arginine Base Powder from trueprotein.com? From trueprotein, it appears it's $15 cheaper/lb. Is this the same stuff?

Also, the links give a better description of what it does. (Sexual side effects sound like a plus)

It's a waste of money IMO. If you're going to spend money on an amino acid I think leucine is the one to go with.

what is the difference? supposedly the nitric oxide makes your blood flow better, helping muscles build, your veins pop out, ect, is what i was told.

does leucine help do something similar?

I been taking NO-Explode for about a week now and I like it (all the things like helping your bloodflow, veins popping out, giving you more energy etc are true). Never took leucine before so cant really comment on that though.

fast twitch is available in a caffeine free version if you get the lemonade flavor. all over flavors have caffeine except for the lemonade.

.. if I were to guess, I'd say capsules are better? But just a guess.

Di-Arginine-Malate (Nitrous MalateTM) A double bonded amino acid (arginine) molecularly bound to malic acid. Most formulations on the market are single bonds of arginine and are combined with AKG. Malic acid may be a superior substrate to bond arginine to as it has numerous clinical studies supporting its use in athletic performance. Arginine has been proven to support Nitric Oxide production, which leads to increased "cell signaling" and an all day pump. Cell signaling will stimulate protein synthesis and glucose storage in muscles. Hence, "the pump". Researchers were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1998 for their work in discovering the nitric oxide molecule. Apparently, there may be a correlation with reduced cardiovascular disease and increased levels of nitric oxide. Benefits from di-arginine-malate include:
Full body recovery-extends recovery time from hours to all day
Strength increase-functional muscle strength increase and increased sets/reps
Increased muscle fiber-rockhard look to muscles, no puffiness or bloating
Increased body weight-recalibrates natural set-point
Amplifies and sustains blood flow-widens the diameter of blood vessels and increases blood flow to skeletal muscles, increasing nutrients such as creatine, amino's, glucose, O2 into muscle.
