anyone else studying? i made level 2 last week
omg 2nd post
i dont know what this forum is
i fought someone that studied krav maga.... was interesting, they wouldnt let me use knees, wtf
what exactly do you do? Is it like a set group of techniques or what?
Krav maga from what I've seen is a lot of self defense type drills. i.e. defending yourself from a rape choke, or knife defense. I personally think that it has become mcdojofied because of the lack of realistic training methods.
krav maga is what the isreali military teaches its soldiers.
whoever said no knees was a fucking fag, i can honestly say that we train that shit nearly every class.
a lot of what we do is NOT set defense techniques. while we do cover shit for chokes and whatnot, a lot of what we do is just practicing striking and groundwork.
punches, hammerfists, elbows, knees, kicks, groundwork, some choke defense but i think it's mostly to give teh ladies self confidence
the classes that i go to are NOT heavily based on static, pre-set defenses/drills.
my background: i (unfortunately) studied tae-kwon-do for about 5 years. studied aikido for 1. krav maga so far for about 4 months. closest thing to being street functional = krav. (but i'd love to compliment it with some kickboxing and bjj) i can't speak for the schools in your area, but at least the one down here isn't completely useless
I too was a victim of teh taekwondo a long time ago. I really don't have enough exposure to krav maga to give an educated opinion about it, but from what I did see (grappling someone who has training in it) I felt that his technique was a bit weak. But I guess it does depend on how hard your school trains.
actually, i agree that grappling in krav is not its strong point. thus my views on wanting to augment my training with some bjj.
yep, you can only benefit from cross training.
Never fought or even known anybody that was trained in KM.
i think it's a decent all around basis for further training. i don't think a person who just trained in krav would ever be competitive...
Just saying, thats one of the very few arts that I know absolutely nothing about.
if you do ever run into one of "us" you shouldn't have much to worry about, unless the guy trains hardcore / cross trains.
You close to Tulsa, OK?
pembroke pines, fl.
but if you're ever down here and wanna "meat"...
never seen any KM that impressed me but that elusive 'REAL KRAV MAGA' could certainly be out there. never fought a KM'er.
i think the KM has, in many areas, been "mcdojofied" as you guys have said. ultimately, i think you'll only be impressed by someone who does it and actually trains outside of "class", as opposed to going to class and calling it a day.
Wow. Another Tulsa dude
omg mma crew meat, where all we do is spar each other ftw
