So i'm thinking of buying a Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D instead of a Canon 350d or a Nikon d70.

My reasons being price is cheaper due to Konica being bought out, LCD screen is big, and the antishake technology.

I also find Canon too small. I think these three cameras are the best in the price range.

Tell me, why would you not go with the Maxxum? I'm thinking lense selection could be an issue in the future.

I was a big fan of the 5D. They sure as hell sold a lot more than the 350Ds or D70s in the store when we had them.

I think if Konica Minolta had had a larger amount of lenses out there, they'd have been a formidable competitor.

I also like the Minolta 5D. Anti-shake feature for the money is awesome. You won't go wrong with it and it seems like a great camera. Get some good lenses to take full advantage of what the camera can offer.

so the lense selection is bad?

I mean, you can still get Sigma lenses, or Tamron...

With the exception of a select few, a lot of Sigma/Tamron lenses are junk. There are some, IE, that Tamron 28-75, which are good. But I wouldn't suggest buying it b/c there is a "good" Tamron/Sigma market. There is undoubtedly a limit on lenses for teh minolta.

Yes, the new sony's will be maxxum-mount.

Check out http://www.dyxum.com/ for a comprehensive website dedicated to minolta/sony DSLR's and lenses. There are tons of reviews on different lenses as well.
