Never played SotN and I heard you guyz bust your nuts all over it so I figured I'd give it a try.

My question is though if you have it can you play it off the HDD? I install it like every other game and the play from HDD option is even there but when I play the disc still spins. :wtf:

Not sure about your question, but SotN owns.

Thats dumb. Wonder what their reasoning is since they originally played off the HDD when they were only DLC.

I downloaded it from Xbox Live long ago, and it seemed like the loading screens were still there even tho the data was all on my hard drive...so there's seemingly no advantage to having it on there vs it using the disc unless you are just concerned with it overheating your xbox or something?

Maybe for the music audio tracks it's accessing the disc?

It has to load each individual game. When you download a game to the HDD it goes to play it but simply loading off the HDD. When you have 3 seperate games to a disc, all it really loads to the HDD is the menu. Shit sucks, but it makes sense.

    not ryl

The install is 300+ megs, probably the same size as the DLC for the 3. And I can launch the individual games directly (from the games menu on the dash) bypassing the main Konami Classics menu altogether.

makes no sense to buy a disc of that when you can buy it on XBL and play from HD - plus it is optimized for HD 16X9.

I have the PS1 black disc and don't play it anymore.

What is this 'buy' you speak of? The disc version is the same exact thing that you can DL. An by "optimized for 16:9" you mean add a background image to the sides instead of black bars? :mamoru:

it's also easier to pull it up on your menu than to have to put in a disc and play off of that - plus i'm sure it has some graphical improvements to deal with HD implementation. The disc version is interlaced i'm sure.

same reason SNES looks like shit on an HDTV.

The reason is the disc isn't a full game it's actually just a menu that accesses the games that are on the disc (the same games you downloaded)

It's possible for them to make these discs work but there are so little of them and I'm sure they'd rather sell the downloadable content on XBL rather than on disc anyway since they probably make more cheddar that way. :mamoru:

I played it a few months ago remembering that years ago it was such an awesome game, and only had awesome memories.

When I played it this time around, it was considerably better than I remembered it even though I remembered it being awesome.

I like the rpg aspect of it, and I like how grinding is never a problem. If you need a few more levels, just go to a monster that yields a high xp and go in/out of screen and kill it over and over. There are some monsters here and there that are really easy to take down and give shit loads of xp.

For those that haven't played it yet, play through the game until you think you're ready to go fight dracula. Then look up on gamefaqs or something how to unlock the reverse castle. If you don't, you're only playing half the game.

One reason it's so great is the attention to detail, and it would take me forever to talk about the reasons why it's great :o
