According to MMAJunkie, its no longer 40,000 clams for those bonuses, its now 55,000.

    For the record:
Akihiro Gono: Submission of the Night for his weird Armbar on Tamden McRory
Ed Herman: KO of the night.
Thiago Alves and Chris Lytle: Fight of the night.

Honestly I'd rather they pay fighters more base pay then force them to fight for bonuses. But, thats how the UFC controls fighters right? It's not evil or anything but, I'd rather see the base pay go up, so fighters can concentrate on their games rather than trying to go balls-out for a fight of the night and get caught in the process.

exciting fight > stalled out boring win.

maybe it would work with the yellow card system.

Yeah and instead we saw Joe Lauzon trash some fucking can with a 28-0 record or some shit. His last like 10 opponents have a combined total of like 2 total wins.

Won't happen because they wont bring anything from PRIDE over to the UFC. Besides yellows were handed out if a fighter was avoiding action. I dont think anyone last night was avoiding action. Just a lot of ground specialist fighters fighting dudes who are good at neutralizing ground threats. That makes for boring fights.

a more apt analogy would be going all out for the client with him decideing to go elsewhere at the last minuet. With great customer service attracting other customers.

although if the yellow card system came in, people would say "wtf? this isn't soccer" etc.

They wont institute the card system because of the athletic commission. You really think the NSAC or CSAC would allow fighters purses to be docked for a lack of aggression? :mamoru:

I personally think a bonus structure such as the one that Zuffa has instated may or may not be as efficient in keeping the action going, but I greatly prefer to offer incentive for providing results rather than punishing.

I like the Fight of the Night/sub/KO of the night bonuses a lot more than I like the 'attaboy' bonuses for fighters who are loyal to the company.

Does the WEC have the same bonus or does Zuffa just do it in the UFC?

Wasn't it already allowed as the Pride shows in Vegas? I'm pretty sure it was.

I was almost positive that they were not able to do it for the Vegas shows.

I'm wrong 90% of the time, so its very possible. It would be very un-NSAC of them though.

The behind the scenes bonuses that Dana gives to fighters work kind of the same way as the card system in Pride. If you put on an exciting fight and your pushing the pace your likely to get a good bonus from Dana after the fight, if you put on a boring fight Dana probably wont be banging on your locker room door to give you more money.

Technically Alves over Alexander was a KO since I think the Ref said that Houston went out.

i think the one punch knockouts are favoured over a flurry of punches for ko of the night.
