Long story short I have a SBR built on a preban SGW lower. I paid dearly for it. I traded a CMMG lower with a 2 stage rra trigger and PRS stock. Needless to say they just don't make them like this any more.

I'm looking to make it last as long as possible.

Given that M-16A1 lowers in the military get refinished and sent back into circulation, and no one's heard or actually seen a lower with ovalled out FCG pins, you don't really need KNS pins.

There is only one case of a guy i know of actually needing KNS pins. His Tactical innovations billet lower had to big of FCG pin holes or something, and his hammer pin walked twice during a class, resulting in runaway full auto fire. I'm guessing the holes were oversized or something.

If it helps you sleep at night though, go right ahead and pick up the pins

I've seen pictures of alot of rifles on arfcom with them so I think that's pretty much all the evidence you need that they're necessary.

  4. I have them on my lower. They give you a nice place to index your finger when you're not working the trigger. I doubt they make any difference at all for the longevity of the lower.

I can see a point to them if you're attending a training class where you will be shooting 1k rounds of ammo in a day or two, or if you own a FA.

The only reason I have them is because the 9mm uppers, without the ramped bolt, are extra hard on the hammer pin. I've heard of a few people's breaking. KNS will replace the pins for free if you break them. Cheap insurance for me (and my SBR lower)
If you have a lot invested in the lower, will you have anything to lose by spending an extra few bucks, even if it doesn't do any good?

Mark LaRue doesn't make them, so they aren't worth the money.

If Mark LaRue made anti-rotation pins, the world would stop spinning; he was asked by world leaders not to for that very reason

According to Pat Rogers (ibhate and "tacticool" comments), he's never seen KNS pins needed, even in vintage A1 FA lowers. Properly hardened and anodized aluminum is hard enough to resist pin wiggle pretty well, especially when the pin holes and pins are the right sizes.

Pfft, what the fuck would a guy who sees thousands of guns and hundreds of thousands of rounds fired a year know about what a gun needs?
