I've been poking around online, looking at knives for no particular reason and was wondering if any of you who buy nice/expensive knives such as Benchmade actually use them in your day to day affairs. Or are they more of a collector's item?

I don't usually carry my expensive knife with me :hs:

I have a $20 Gerber folder I carry with me everyday, it works fine for what I use it for (cutting open boxes/plastic at work.)

For my day to day I use an S&W homeland security knife. Gets the job done.

For nice knives my brother got me an automatic Blackhawk cqd mark 1. So expensive but so nice.

I was using one of the homeland security knives but I got irritated with how many times i scrapped my hand on the handle. I've since switched to a SOG flash II and I love it.

I use my benchmade 42 (bali-song) everyday. People at work flip out when I open it - it's pretty funny. I don't know if you consider that expensive or not though.

I've got 2 Benchmade Griptilians I carry everyday, and use 'em at least once a day. Good knives are meant to be used and will last for years.

Mcusta, hmm, never heard of them. The knife does look very nice however. What do they call that finish on the blade that kinda looks like the screen that shows your vitals in a hospital?

    Has the wood held up?

That's the damascus - I think it's a way the metal is treated.

I have a mini-auto Benchmade that I use daily. Can't think of a day it was carried and never whipped out for some menial task.

I can't recall the name of my benchmade knife, but I bought it a few years back...

It has a fully titanium handle with black serrated blade...and yes, I carry it daily. I guess some people said it is more of a 'collectors' piece or something...I dunno, wasn't listening because I was too busy using the knife :)

I don't buy em to have them sit around really...the titanium is gonna outlast me! I like the thin profile of the knife so it fits in the pocket nicely...
