I patella tracking issues, which causes problems in the gym, in training, and in my daily life. I have braces, but they're bulky, and very hot, and a pain to wear all day every day.

Does anyone have any websites/tutorials, preferably with pictures, on how to tape a knee for patella stabilization?

Problem with tape & training: it's only effective for the first 15-20 minutes. Then you get sweaty and the tape slowly but surely loses it's effectiveness.

Braces are the best for tracking issues.

I like Breg's stuff (from the guys that brought you Donjoy, but left because Donjoy got bought out and didn't innovate)

Problem is you can't roll with someone with hinges on the brace :hsugh:

I'll see if i can find a tutorial that shows you what you need to do to tape, but I think you'd be better off with a brace.

when I was having some knee issues I did a combination of a knee brace and wraping.

This is the method I used

I used the harbringer wraps and they have a video on how to wrap your knees.

You should try out the two different ways of wraping they have there and find out whats more comfortable for you. I did the cross method because it gave me more support but I freind of mine used the spiral method and it felt better for him. Haydenmac is right though if your doing weight lifting or running its fine but when your rolling it will come off when you start getting really sweaty. Its ok if your drilling technique but when you roll and you get really sweaty it sucks.

here are some braces as well you might want to use them in conjunction with the wrap like I did or by themselves.

Mine wasnt because of the patella I had a torn miniscus (sp?) and I ended up getting a knee brace and it would work fine for my daily stuff. I could run for awhile and lift weights and pretty much do everything with out a problem but you find out really fast that bjj/muay thai and stuff like that takes a lot more out of you then some of these other sports. The knee brace wasnt enough support and I could do stuff but I couldnt be as active as Id like when I wrapped it up it gave me all of the support I needed and eventually I just ended up using the knee brace when my knee got a little better.
