I would be too.
Best of luck and I hope you rehab quickly.
thanks man... i've been waiting since the first week of the semester to have it done... now finals are over, and the date is here faster than i expected... the doc says its the right thing to do, and i trust him... but idk... purposely breaking a bone and putting a screw in just scares me... reminds me of my own mortality
well hopefully they dont shatter it on accident
they use a saw...
oh, and btw - they are making a dvd of the surgery and giving me a copy. now im way too weak-stomached to watch it, but if anyone needs some stills taken from it to remind them to do their TKE's, im sure i can manage.
i had knee surgery a few years ago...you'll be fine man, GL on the recovery, do what the PT tells ya
i can host the vid if you want
You could you somehow get me a copy of it? I'll pay you for the blank DVD and postage.
But about the surgery, try not to worry too much. I'm sure you're in good hands. How long will you have to stay in the hospital?
why do you need surgery?
i hope you survive the anaesthesia.
What's a TKE?
Good luck man!
terminal knee extension
good luck man!
good luck dude.
hes fine now
What are you having done? I go in Dec 29th for my 2nd knee surgery, boooo.
chill out and enjoy the painkillers
I am on day 2 of being out of surgery (i think). The painkillers are doing a decent job (i got extra strength vicodin). The numbing medication was on a pump suspended from my waist and it just ran out this morning. Im not looking forward to re-dressing it the wound and unhooking the pump.
For background ,my right knee has been messed up for years - the alignment of muscular structure down my leg was too far angled outward, (my doctor called it a Q angle). The first week of the semester i was doing single legged leg extensions to warm up for a heavy set of goodmornings and my knee cap popped out again... so I've been waiting for this be done for a while
the doctor told my parents on thursday morning, and called friday to tell me the same thing... he was actually impressed with the angle my leg had taken and the amount of damage done to my kneecap (not to mention the floating piece of cartilage) - noted saying how i must have underexaggerated the pain and instability of my knee (this felt good to hear). the angle was actually farther off once he got inside than he thought going in, which meant he had to install a third screw instead of the standard two. this means the main incision was a little larger than normal so i should have a gnarly scar. i did get the dvd of the surgery, and i'll see what i can do in terms of making a copy... i think my dad has a dvd-r, maybe one of abombs hotrod computers does too, idk.
my parents are here in my apt helping me out, getting me my painkillers on time and helping with things you guys dont even want to know about... which is great in terms having help , but is killing me mentally having a mom thinking shes a doctor being over your shoulder every step of the way on an already painful recovery...
im not sure what all ive wrote here, i'll try to check in more but i cant make any gurantees....
ps, my mom in a "i know you like working out, but dont really know much about it" bought me a copy of mens health which i find really humorous by the way. i didnt realize alwyn cosgrove wrote articles for them, but their obsession with stability balls and brand consumption has got to go!
thanks for the kind words people. respect.
I'm getting surgery soon on my shin/calf area soon
lol hotdamn is saving me a vicodin weee
that's cute of your mom
i don't envy your healing process, but good luck with it all...are you basically bed-ridden for a while? my cousin has had numerous knee surgeries due to motorcycle accidents and he had those pumps and everything- that's cool your parents are looking out for you. heal up, bro
