This is my first week back lifting after I seriously hurt my shoulder 2 months ago...and out of no where my knees are killing me doing squats...with even half the weight of what I used to do, they pop and hurt while I'm walking. What gives?? Stance hasn't changed...haven't done really anything to them in the last few months.

Just when my shoulder feels better something else breaks :greddy: story of my life.

where is the popping coming from? It could be just from not using your legs in a weighted squat for two months. Try getting some joint fuel (glucosamine, etc...) and maybe pick up some knee wraps

Maybe hit some light cardio for 5 minutes beforehand. Whenever I get on an exercise bike for the first 5 minutes my knees make popping sounds/feelings, then it goes away. It's never happened to my when squatting though.

sounds like the popping is coming from either your lateral or medial meniscus. it could be something more serious. have you twisted your knee in the last two months? has it ever locked up on you? anything like that?

yeah I do 5-10 minutes on the bike just to get warmed up a little... I'll just take it easy for a while and see what happens :o

might be worth getting it checked out if the problem persists. the area under the kneecap is meniscus and its a very important part of the knee
