i had a chance to try out a friends kimber UC2 (.45). amazing weapon, easy to shoot, tight groups, very compact. i have an opportunity to buy one at near wholesale, thinking about adding the new crimson trace grips. anybody use them or have experience with them?

If I could carry concealed, I'd prefer a hammerless pistol. But I want to get one of those baby 1911s too, so awesome.

I have had one for about 6 yrs now and I love it. Has been my usual carry gun pretty much the whole time. I haven't suffered the problems people complain about as "typical" of the mini-1911's so I can't comment on that other than to say mine shoots fine.

Sorry, I just re-read and realized i answered a question you didn't ask and avoided the one you did!

I have no experience with the laser grips. They seem like a lot of money and it seems like most people pick them up as an excuse for lack of training (ie. with a laser I can't miss, saves me having to do a bunch of practice...)

My S&W 642 w/ CT laser grips was $10 more than the one without.
That's my excuse for having them.

I got an excellent deal on my kimber with CT grips.
The book said it was sighted in for like 50 yards. at 10 yards while pointed at the center of my target, the laser was on the far side of the lane next to mine's target. It took forever to get straight. I'd loosen one screw for the elevation and it would go up diagonally? wth. I spent 30 minutes trying to just get it straight and finally settled with it shooting a little over the pointer.

besides, its good for at least 15 tactical points right?

Have them on two of my carry guns. Work great, and in a firefight, I will take any advantage I can get... Don't really care if its cheating, tacticool or whatnot...

That said, Crimson Trace is awesome people, they stand behind their product and are great with CS.
