Picking one up locally on Friday...

Other than the external extractor issue and the metal mag follower issue, is there anything else I should be aware of?

Anyone know if Kimber is still doing slide replacements to internal extractor for free?

I would get a different gun with fewer potential issues unless you are getting it for a ridicilously low price.

Avoid Kimbers with "II" in the name.

Wow, the slide to frame fitment on my $500 Springer G.I. is better than the $900 Kimber.

I have *ZERO* issue with my Kimber Pro TLE II/RL. Absolutely none.

I have a handful of friends who also have Kimbers who have never had an issue with them. Kimber + Wilson Combat 47D magazines has been a great combo.

$550 for a mint Tactical Pro II? Hard to say no. Seems like they are a decent company to deal with for out of warranty issues.

I had a couple issues with my Kimber when I first got it, i had the external extractor slide which kimber replaced for free with the internal extractor. After than and a new set of springs it runs great.

I have no doubt there are people out there that have had problems or gotten "lemons". But I don't think the whole brand deserves as much hate as it gets.

Based on my non-scientific recollections of people who've had problems with their Kimbers, it always seems to have been guns with II in the name. That's about it. If you get it for a crazy good price you could probably turn around and sell it for a profit. :dunno:

$550 pretty mint, 3 CM mags and mag bumpers. Put 100 rounds through her without a hitch this afternoon. Sorry shitty phone pics.

I tried all three chip mcormick shooting stars it came with, no problems whatsoever. Shot UMC, fed hydrashocks, and some crappy jacketed reloads. I did hear that the metal followers may be a problem and gouge the aluminum frame, but looked and no problem.

I still may order some 47d's though. Where did you buy them through?
