kidproof a laptop

    going to get my kid a laptop. I want it locked down so he can't install shit on it and get viruses and shit I'll have to clean up later.

    recommendations for "sandbox" kind of software that'll let him fuck around with IE/firefox, but will undo anything that's installed/allowed when he's done? I thought vmware had something that kind of did this but I can't find what i was remembering.

    how about something like this?

    VMWare will allow you to revert to the snapshot on a reboot - that what you're thinking of? Also Deep Freeze has been doing this forever.

    It's called Guest Mode in Windows 7 (Not to be confused with a guest account)

    I'd use OpenDNS as well to help block malicious sites as well as the naughty stuff.

    thanks, I already use it on a playroom PC and the laptop will get the same settings
