Didnt see a thread, and saw it last night.

I left perplexed as to how to explain why I liked it, but I definitely did. I'll admit it won't be for everyone, but the best I can describe it a day later is a comedy-Tarantino-style film.

Over the top action/violence, told with a grim story and sometimes-raunchy language, set in a real-life-yet-comic-book universe that I understood perfectly.

In other words...the feel good movie of the summer!

I thought it was pretty original and the movie was able to suprise me in spots which is always a plus.

And it is always amusing to see a profane brutally violent pre-teen in action.

    Kick-Ass was awesome! Definitely delivered.

The little girl was 85% of what made it awesome.

For anyone interested, Chloe Moretz (Hit-Girl) is playing the female lead in the U.S. remake of the Swedish vampire film, Let The Right One In.

American remakes usually suck, but I'm still curious to see how this one turns out; especially since Moretz seems to be a pretty good young actress.

Just saw the movie today and it was fucking awesome! Hit-Girl and Big Daddy were my instant favorites. This is the only movie where I could watch an eleven year old girl yelling the words "cunt" and "motherfucker" while happily mass-murdering dozens of people. This characters of this movie reminded me of Zombieland, where you have the pussy who spends the whole movie trying to grow some balls and get the girl, the bad-ass motherfucker who can wipe out an entire room full of people, and the cute little girl that's as badass as the badass motherfucker.

    SPOILER WARNING

One of my favorite scenes in the movie though was when Big Daddy (Nicholas Cage) took out the entire room full of dudes while the 28 Days Later music is playing. I really wish he wouldn't have died though, I wanted to see more of him and Hit-Girl fucking people up together. They were technically the only two real super heroes in the movie. Even though they were morally unsound, murderous super heroes, they pretty much made the movie. I wouldn't really count Kick-Ass as a super hero even when he finally grew some balls in the end and put on that jetpack.

examples of how the movie differed from the comic:

    spoiler*****

    ***

you weren't supposed to know Red Mist was a bad guy. that was a twist. Big Daddy's back story was a lie that he taught his daughter. in reality he was a crazy fanboy who bought everything by selling gems of his insane million dollar comic collection on ebay. Big Daddy was killed by being shot point-blank in the back of the head. Kick-Ass had his balls electrocuted in the torture scene. Kick-Ass did not get the girl in the end. she was pissed that she decieved him about being gay, and got her black boyfriend to beat the shit out of him for it. then she texted him pictures of herself sucking the guys dick, and he jerked off to it while crying. feels good, man.

Damn are you serious? That's one fucked up comic, I like the movie ending better if that's really what happens in the comic, especially considering that the black dude wasn't even alive that far into it. And I don't understand how Big Daddy could've made a story like that up considering he did the time and had witnesses like his ex-partner. Plus what would be the whole reason of going on the revenge trip and putting your daughter in danger just because of a comic book obsession?

If that's the case - kick-ass as the comic kind of sounds like a shitty comic to read....

big daddy never went to prison and he didn't have an ex-partner. his wife hated him and he stole the daughter and ran away. he told hitgirl that her mother was killed, and put her life in danger, because he was a fucking maniac. at the end of the comic hitgirl goes to live with her mother, not the partner like in the movie.

wanted was a horrendous movie adaptation of the comic. i remember having it explained to me that it was because the comic was only half written when the movie came out. that whole shit with the loom? that came out of nowhere. curving the bullet? nope. the whole deal about his dad was wrong, too.

Good movie. Great story of how the kid gets to where he is and has the secret identity. I liked the voiceover, the action and just the overall feel of the movie.
It got a little slow at about the 3/4 point but really picked up for a big finish.
    Hit Girl kicks ass!
