Anyone have any experience with them? I've been thinking about investing in a couple of kettlebells after reading some great things about training with them. I was just wondering if anyone here has trained with them and what they thought.

I was thinking about getting a couple just to do some crossfit style balls to the wall workouts a couple days a week.

Did a few sessions with a 25 pound kettlebell and have to say it makes for a pretty intense workout. I'm glad I didn't buy a 35 lb one. Does anyone else get bruising on the top of their forearms? I can't help, but hit the same spot on my forearm every time I do things like cleans and such.

My coach thinks/thought kettlebells were so trendy because it's just a shaped piece of metal..

They are fucking awesome, yes.. it's just a chunk of metal.. but the workouts are badass and once you workout with one you'll never workout without it again. It's something badass for jiujitsu.. mma.. etc

They are expensive as fuck though

Kettlebells have been kind of a fad for a long time though.

eh, just cause it's trendy doesn't mean it's not effective.

Yeah a buddy I wrestled with back in high school tried to get me into it after he bought a bunch of kettlebells. I just kind of forgot about them until they sort of exploded onto the mainstream.

    Hopefully.

  20. seems like a lot of guys are still into the tire sledgehammer thing, dragging shit up hills, sprints with bands on, etc.

More guys need to do olympic lifts if they want to be explosive, rather than sprint around with elastic bands and shit.

guys are faddish IN the ring as well. Once one dude pulls this or that move off, everyone else is going to try it. I expect a lot more attempted Knees from single-leg defense will be coming along shortly.

I'm sure most do, they just don't show it on "All Access" because it's boring.

    It's... like...

you take a bar.. put as much weight as you can handle on it.. and put it in the middle of a room.. take a set of rings.. hang them up..

get some dumbells.. and a big box so you can do box jumps.. figure out a good way to use them all.. like.. ok ill do 5 of these then 10 of these etc etc

then, try to do it as technical and as fast and powerful as you can... like... 10 rounds in 30 minutes..

put your score up.. now people all week can do it and try to beatr your time...

    That's crossfit..

Haha I never really realized that until you just mentioned it, but that's totally true. That's more from the newer guys though, at least in my experience. I know this one guy that insists on throwing every punch like one of chuck liddell's wide haymakers.

I can't judge though. I've gone for my share of rolling kneebars and oma platas as defense to a single leg after seeing it on the internet.
