I still haven't found one of these yet, but after shooting 50 rounds through my 642 Saturday it got me to wondering if it's accuracy would be better then my J frame (cause its pretty bad). Hoping I can get one at the show this weekend and find out for myself.

Like the 642 its pretty much all up to the shooter. It does have a lighter trigger pull than the 642 so you'll probably be able to shoot it a little better.

Mine is kinda weird, sometimes it'll go right where I want it too, sometimes it doesn't even make it on paper. I'm thinking about getting a trigger job done on it to see if it cleans up my consistency.

The jframe is one of the hardest guns to shoot I think. Thats part of why it always confuses me when its the first gun most guys try to put in a girl's hands if she wants to carry concealed.

Wait, what? The P3AT has a lighter trigger pull than something? UNPOSSIBLE.

Its 5 or 6 pounds I think but like 7 miles long on a grip thats so small your index finger practically has to touch your wrist

5-6 pounds what, per square millimeter of trigger face?

For what its worth you might try some softer shooting ammo too. I think people have a tendency to shoot hot rounds out of the jframe to try to make up for its caliber but just can't shoot them well because of the recoil. I put winchester super-x 148gr full wadcutter (X38SMRP) in my 642 because I can shoot them much better then the +p stuff.

You definitely aren't going to shoot competition with it. That being said, You can easily hit a human at 7yds but other than that it isn't terribly accurate. I have a first gen so the sights are a tiny bump with a dot of white paint for a front site and a dot on the back of the slide for the rear.

what he said. its a great gun for concealed. would i want to shoot someone more than 15 yards away? no. not because i couldnt do it, but because any farther than that and you have to judge if you're really threatened by the person.

    Funny you ask.

I shot the Kel-Tec P3AT last night out to 50 ft just to see how it would do. After a warm up at 7yds to get used to the shit trigger again, I pushed it back. I was able to get 12 of 18 shots on an 8.5"x11" sheet of paper. got a couple of hits in the "A" zone on the IPSC target printed on the paper which was impressive. It's not going to be a tackdriver, but you will reach it's limit in your ability to shoot it, rather than the inherent accuracy of the weapon itself. Within 7 yds, all shots group pretty well on a piece of paper, most within the target area of an IPSC target 1/3 scale on a piece of paper.

OK cool. I was still going to buy one anyway, but I didn't find any info about its accuracy when I looked.

You'll surprise the shit out of yourself when you shoot it, because the accuracy is damn good considering the awful fucking trigger. Remember the fundamentals, slow steady squeeze, natural point of aim, firm support hand, relaxed grip on the fingertips, firm grip front to back with the palm, and you should get good results. Those should actually help with the 642 shooting, too.

I would have put that in there, but there is essentially jack shit for a front sight on a P3AT/P32 :o

I added night sights to mine, so there is a little more, but still, it's a point shooter, IMO.

I fucking hate this little gun but if I ever need to use it, I'd trust my life to it.

    OD green what?

Slide is a hammertone spray on. Sights are green tritium bars from a cheap ass watch I had that broke.

I have a PF9 in 9mm, the accuracy is ok but the trigger is dog shit. I only bought it because I wanted more capacity than 5 shots in the 642. Mine has been 100% reliable.

I'm still thinking of a 642 when my tax rebate arrives, I couldn't afford to spend another $400 on a gun at the time. :wtc:
