Is it a bad thing to keep magazines loaded for an extended period of time? I get to the range about once a month with my handgun, but I can see it being a few months before I'm actually able to shoot this AR. Am I damaging the springs by keeping the mags loaded?

    repost?

Is this another AR topic? :mamoru:

Not bad at all. It's the constant compression/decompression of the springs that you should be worried about.

:o I suppose it applies to all mags

but my handgun will see the range much more frequently given my current hours and ammo prices.

as long as it's a reg GI-style mag and not a Pmag then you're fine leaving it loaded.

P-Mags should be fine to store loaded for long periods of time so long as the "dust cap" is applied to relieve pressure that would otherwise distort the feed lips.

I keep my mags loaded, but I have frequent "zombie drills" where they are unloaded quickly.
