Mandatory evac of all non essential personnel.
My wife, son, and I fled to Nashville TN.
We've been watching the news and I don't know if we will have a house to come back to. I cannot contact my unit or anyone else in the area due to other morons like me trying to call in as well.
We are making the best of it in Nashville, obviously we are better off than some people are, even if we don't have a house when we come back.
If anyone would like to donate to the American Red Cross you may do so here: http://www.redcross.org/donate/donate.html

I can't even contact my bank. At least I have the govy card.
I also have limited access to the internet and a computer, so I will not be able to respond quickly.
Stay safe, and keep all of those people in your prayers.

Looking at footage from www.wlox.com I wonder if I even have a house to go home to. I moved my luggage from one room to another and the thought hit me that I might be moving everything I own. It is mentally rough not knowing anything about anyone back in Biloxi. But again I have to remind myself, that I have A/C, food and my family is safe.

Rodthrower18, no I am Active Duty AirForce stationed at what is left of Keesler AFB Biloxi MS.

We appreciate your support, I am financially taken care of, if you would like to donate, the Red Cross and Salvation Army are taking donations.
My neighbor who is on the clean up crew said that our houses were flooded up to the top of the first floor.

Wow. Those are some scary pics. :eek4:

I just learned today that my brother-in-law's aunt, uncle, grandmother, and grandfather are missing. The grandparents live in Pascagoula, Mississippi. The aunt/uncle went to try and help them when they weren't able to leave (I don't know why) during the evacuation. They live right on the gulf coast. [google maps]

Here's all the info we currently have about them: http://www.twowheelsburning.com/article/articleview/110/1/10/

edit: A family friend was able to drive through to their home last night. All are safe and alive. There was some flood damage, but the structure is still standing.

Neighbor who told us house was flooded to first floor also told us our windows and doors are intact. I think he might have said his house was flooded. This is all second hand info from his wife over the cell phone. He said the carport that I park my Thing under is gone, but the Thing looks unscathed. I will have to see it for myself to say for sure. So far as donations, I am not sure who is accepting goods. I know that due to logistics the Red Cross and others only want money. Maybe the Family Support Center on Keesler, but they will not be active until a few weeks.

AFPC is saying to stay put until Sept 5th when further direction is to come out. They also said the further direction could be "Stay Put". I talked with a friend in the know and he said unofficially it could be two weeks before we could return home.

So, until then... ...anyone in Nashville?

We (base housing residents) are allowed BAH now.
A76 has been put on hold.
Base housing residents are receiving 100k in insurance from the base (if you have 56k in Tennant's insurance you now have 156k).
Mandatory retrain for some selected SSgts has been axed.
Dependents are expected to not return for 60 months.
Some people are PCS'ing, in limited amounts.
