I have to say, I actually watched the whole thing, which I don't usually do with human weapon.

I'm probably biased as shit, but I still thought it was pretty impressive.

It was pretty cool, I saw that one. I haven't seen the MT one or any of the others but that one was pretty sweet. Very direct and no-nonsense self defense.

it wasn't that good in my opinion. I watch them for the history and interesting new bits. the only thing that was new to me was the M16 part, and i have a hard time beliveing that i will ever have a chance to apply the ideas behind it.

I basicaly watched it to see what the end fight was all about, and I was dissapointed. I was expecting spmething more exotic, when all it was is what we call a dragon circle.

I thought self defense wise it looked pretty good, but then I realized that's because they went to train with the IDF elite, good luck finding KM that quality in the states

It was pretty trendy a few years ago, and there are a shit load of low quality schools out there. I'm wondering if there even are any good ones in the US.

stand in a circle of people and they attack you 1 by 1. From behind and side mostly, so its always a supprize.

We did the exact same techniques in my class. The only thing they don't show you is the M16 stuff. That choke escape is the exact same one I learned first day of KM class. Same thing with 360 defense. A lot of the schools are well regulated and you can check on their website which one is "sactioned" by the KM center in LA.

I do kempo, they obviously use it in krav as well. No idea where it originated though.

I mean less about the technique and more about the intensity / resistiveness they are trained at

We basically did punch out drills for about half of each session where you would have multiple people holding pads and you would have to punch em, grab a hold of em and knee em with all your might untill someone else came in and hit you, then you'd turn around and attack that person. It was far more physically demanding than muay thai or boxing.

You could probably learn all the techniques in Krav Maga in a few days (which is why their instructors who have experience only need to do a few week seminar to get certified). Its all about intensity and aggressivness and thats the main thing they teach you. There are good KM schools in USA.

If you can become a qualified instructor in a few weeks, you're not going to be a good instructor. That's actually pretty disappointing, and I hope most instructors have far more experience than that.

They do. Most of them have lots of martial arts experience and already have schools. But learning the combatives and drills and how to teach them doesnt take very long if you are already coordinated and have a basic striking background. Its meant to be the simplest possible movements and 80% of it is basic muay thai or boxing. The curriculum is very well regulated among the two main branches of KM in the US and from my experience they do good job. Obviously you will have some crappy instructors but the first place I went to was awesome.

I have to say, I've watched all the Human Weapon shows, and I'm impressed. Considering it's on the History Channel, it's been pretty good. The premise of the show is a little cheesy, but the historical aspect of it is spot on as far as I can tell. Jason Chambers seems like a intelligent guy, and he's very skilled. Bill Duff is an idiot, but oh well.

I'm just glad to see a show on martial arts regularly on TV, that is reasonably well done.

The show is great but the big guy is starting to get real annoying. He's always bragging about how bad he's hyped and wants to fight a bunch of guys, or how strong he is, and that he played football and did wrestling.

i just laugh at bill, such a fuckin retard. everything out of his mouth is a joke. last memorable thing he said was when he was fighting out of the 12 man dogpile that you have to do anything you can to fight your way out... "punches, kicks, chokes..." seriously, who chokes their way out of a 12 man dogpile?
