how many rounds? what range? what score was required?

Mine was super easy it was like 7 of 10 from 7 yards or something. Then they kicked me off the lane :wtc:

we basically did the nra basic pistol test, cause the class covered most of it. there were only 5 of us so the guy showed us some close quarters stuff, but as far as the ccw part of it. the test was 10 rounds, 5 rounds one min. 5 rounds the next min. shooting at a 9inch circle from 21-22 feet. you had to get 8/10 to pass. it took 2 mins. i had one flyer though (i hate when someone is standing over my shoulder)

    cliffs 8/10 in a 9in. circle from 20 feet in 2 mins.

:mamoru: having to take a ccw class to get your license is :greddy:

in my state you just go to the highway patrol office with your money, photograph, and application notarized. they digitally scan your fingerprinters, send them to FBI, and you get your license in 3 months as long as your NICS check comes back ok.

I took mine on Saturday, 6 hours roughly.

We had to shoot 50 rounds total and score a 175/250. Each hole at center of mass was worth 5 points.

    At 15 feet
    5 rounds two handed
    5 rounds one handed
5 rounds two handed, reload 5 more two handed

    At 25 feet
    5 rounds two handed
    5 rounds one handed
5 rounds two handed, reload 5 more two handed

    At 50 feet
5 rounds two handed, reload 5 more two handed

Personally I prefer that classes are required. The GF & I took the basic NRA handgun course with another 2 hours of the local CCW rules. I got an 88%, she got a 94%. I am never going to hear the end of it.

I will say that requiring them does border on 2nd amendment issues IMO. But I will say that you're a f'in moron if you carry a gun everyday and don't have any training. Use of force laws are very intricate. Also without better training how do you know how you will react? Sure you can shoot on paper, but can you shoot at an attacker charging you with a knife?

    *this outta be fun* :wiggle:

I am probably also going to take some heat, but I think more weapons handling and tactical decision making training should be required.

Wow, there is a place down here that does CCW class. 1 hour class room 1 hour range. That sounds too compressed compared to what some of you went through.

Ya, the class I took to get my permit app in the mail was 3 hours on a Thursday night with no shooting. Granted that 3 hours was all OR law and use of force with 15 minutes of gun safety to comply with the ORS requirement.

Who was your instructor? How many people in the class? I got lucky and there were only 3 of us when I took the class... easier to ask legality questions.

He even took the course at Bills shop where we were just shooting. Sean said there were 5 people in his CCW course.

I am not worried about the 15-25 feet stuff, but the 50 feet is rediculous. :o
