So the trainer at my gym had me add squats into my routine. My first day I just did the bar so that I could get my form correct while he watched, we did 3 sets and he said my form was good, to just keep doing them like that and add some weight next time. The next time was last Wednesday and I only did the bar plus 20 lbs (65lbs total) 3 sets of 12 reps. I figured keeping the weight low would be safe until I really got the hang of things. Well, I managed to totally F my lower back up. It feels like a muscle strain. I have been taking advil and putting heat on it (which helps), but it is now Sunday and it only feels marginally better. How long does it take to recover from something like this? I have been going to the gym every other day since the start of Feb and I am itching to go now, but I know I could end up hurting it even more. Any advice?
