Just started deads again after about 9 months off..question

    Before I did a few sets of 1 to 3 and went for really heavy weight every time. Now I'm starting to do about 5 sets with 5 reps each but less weight. Is this a good approach for just general overall strength gains or should I try to do the 1-3 rep sets with really heavy weight?

    I've made good progress with them doing about 2 reps. I've never done more than 5 in my life.

    I've actually been having good results with doing heavy sets of 3.
