We do not register .gov or .mil names. Also ssh is not allowed unless a highly viable reason is given. This is to protect the clients as well as the server from unauthorized access.

You have some sort of grain fetish or something? :ugh:

 SSH is intended to prevent unauthorized access...

As appose to telnet? Yes, but as I said for what a basic or intermediate user needs he/she can do this through ftp or cpanel. Scripts can be run on ssh to gain access to the server and even root, so it is restricted.

Meh, if I were going to pay for hosting (especially your top plans that are 250 bucks a year), I would expect telnet/ssh access.

just having a computer on the internet can get unwanted access. its a risk there is. thats why companies do backups and keep doing updates on their servers.

If I gave it to you I would expect a viable reason for me doing so, these are protection measures for the other clients on the box as well as users who don't know how to use or are properly aware of what these programs can do. I didn't say ssh is banned and not given at all, I said a viable reason must be given.

I'm not going to argue with you guys about this, this dereases the chance of something happening, if you don't like it go host with someone else.

No we do not have tomcat installed but we are contemplating it if there is a demand for it.

Yeah, that pesky cryptology based on assymetric keys is horribly insecure compared to cleartext access.

I'm talking about people who sign up for an account using a fake cc and then inturn uses ssh to run scripts on the box gaining root access. :slap: I swear some people don't understand what I'm trying to prevent here.

Dude if you can't elaborate then why call me something based on what I said above, there is many ways to root a box this is one way that is used alot and by restricting access to this feature to people who would really need it I will cut down on the chances of it happening correct? This is all I'm trying to do and in turn will protect my customers and the server from harm, yes we do backups, yes we allow ssh but to only customers who provide a viable reason, why would I give ssh to someone who can do what they need to with cpanel and ftp? Thats one less person that could root the box using ssh.
