It was alright. I loved a lot of the action. Plot was a little confusing but understandable. The Ending was way too fast, the only reason i knew it was the ending was because I had read some reviews/movie descriptions.

I really liked the first chase and how they threw you into action as soon as the movie started.

Oh and i couldn't really understand what the bad guy really did? For example previous villains would be building nukes and satellites, this one was different.

This villain ran an organization that forced regime change in countries and robbed/controlled those countries' natural resources. Basically did the opposite of what his "Greene Planet" foundation stood for.

I thought that it was a great follow up to Casino Royale...picking up right where it left off.

    *****SPOILERS*****
DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET

    *sharp intake of breath*

the running time was TOO cut back, they were trying to cut off the fat, but ended up cutting some of the meat off as well! another TEN MINUTES ADDED would have filled in nicely about why bond went back to mathis, toned out the starter car chase ..... and general added other synopsis storypoints

gemma arteton's character ..... WHY? she felt totally superfluous and added virtually NOTHING to anything of the film, basically they sent a SECRETARY that was vacuous, dressed like inspector closeau's daughter ..... even her "oops i've tripped you up" bit was completely flat and pointless!! and it's a pity they had to waste such a great death scene on her ..... that should have went to MATHIS IMO. and why the hell would bond suddenly feel inclined to sleep with fields within ten seconds of meeting her??? they shouldn't have put her character in this

the "feel" of the movie ..... IT WAS EUROPEAN!!! that would do with the director, and some of the fast cutting was maybe too quick for some

the end fight ..... greene DOES NOT LOOK like someone who could fight ..... he ended up as some sort of angry short man, but to his credit he did put ferociousness into it! his end though was poetic justice LOL, but who put the two bullets into him?? and his henchmen were pretty much bodies in front of him, except his main one (the poor sap LOL). being put in that position, wating for bond to come round the corner ..... then getting blown to buggery! ..... EVEN IN A NECKBRACE TOO!!!! oh yeah, when you have been found out you DO NOT get up and leave your seats, leaving bond to happysnap your stupid faces!!!

and were QUANTUM tryin to turn bond against MI6? well, they should have been, as it was pretty obvious to them that he was going through them like a knife through hot butter! there was a touch of presumption about that, but it wasn't delevoped ..... and added to the slight confusion when bond was finally brought in by M

generally it didn't feel "right" IMO ..... there wasn't that much coheesiveness to the main storyline, and didn't hold together at all well, not even close to some of the worst bonds made!!!

mathis's name ..... WAS NOT HIS REAL NAME!!!!! and as M would say ..... HOW THE HELL DID HE FIND THAT OUT???? it surprised me when he said that when mathis was dying in bond's arms (a touching moment) ..... and then he dumps in in the trash!! (bond's funny liine felt forced) you think mathis's woman is going to go revenge mental when she finds out, or will she get mad at some quip about the cheap wine she buys ROFL

    BUT THERE WERE GOOD POINTS

the excellent chases, the carchase, the footchase, the boatchase, the planechase (very nicely started with quite a shock!) with a breathtaking freefall into one of the sinkholes and the final conflagration ..... all excellently choreographed

the brilliant entry into slate's house ..... silent, peacefull, ghostly ..... only the outside noise filtering through, and slate's death too ..... almost incidental in it's nature!

camille's storyline ..... a parallel with bond's, but with a more vicious streak through it, as her personal revenge didn't have the baggage of duty holding it down. it's rare to see that in a bond movie, and gives that extra dimension! although with the insipid fields covering all the LURVE angles for some reason, bond should have realised that she was a close proximity to himself (being driven by revenge by the death of loved ones), and acted more like a mentor than a confidente!

the finding out that vesper's boyfriend wasn't her boyfriend, but a QUANTUM SPY, intstigated to find important females, so if plan a goes ToverA, they have a plan b! it works, but is almost forgotten due to the revelation being stuck in the middle of things

and once again little pastiches from previous movies ..... they are hard to find, but i counted two at least

to be honest, after the near perfect brilliance of CR, i'm trying to NOT say the D word ..... but it's getting close to it, and that upsets me a bit! i'll go and watch it again down the line, but this one is not the kind that would make me OBSESSED with it as casino royale did

and i am one of the few who actually LIKE the theme song, but maybe should have re-recorded the shorter version rather than edit it down. oh and why was there sand in the title sequence? the bolivian desert is all rocky!!

it just didn't grab me as casino royale did ..... add back in some exposition, jiggle some of the storyline and get rid of the superflous characters, and we'll get somewhere nearer what casino royale started out as! the main problem was to give this to an AUTEUR, with a bourne fixation i'm afraid

i also haven't mentioned the nasty bolivian generale who's getting "his country back", then getting his knackers theoretically belted by quantum's rather large rope!!! i lolled at that, his face was a picture!!

the whole CIA storyline ..... felix leighter lounging back, watched beem do all the work (teacher/pupil relationship)

i'm looking at some of the quotes off ceefax, and the negative ones are quite frankly rubbish ..... but not in the "film is rubbish", just INNACURATE!!! for instance yours truly say that it "dosn't even try to be bigger than casino royale" ..... it's SUPPOSED to be bigger as in storyline!! VARIETY says that he is mostly hunted!! NO HE ISN'T the only one's going after him is MI6!!! NO ONE from quantum goes directly after him

overall, rather dissapointing (there, i did say it eventually)
    6/10

but daniel craig is still brilliant

IF I HAD A CHANCE TO CHANGE THE MOVIE I WOULD .....

1: make the running time at LEAST 2hours, with virtually no fast cutting
2: use the COMPLETE theme song with different uses for each verse for the title sequence (dust, water, air ..... and dump the sand!!)
3: use fields as a consort to mathis, sent to help them officially ..... but to KEEP AN EYE ON BOND, and not as some floosy)
4: put the whole vesper's "boyfriend" bit at the end of the main storyline, so it dosn't feel muddled
5: show leiter getting his position in the CIA

This was a good action movie, but a good bond movie it was not. It missed the critical elements: truely sinister villian, shameless debauchery and abuse of women, really cool gadgets.

Oh and it also didn't really have a good plot, it left me feeling like it was just a teaser for the next X number of movies they will make which in all honesty is not the Bond tradition. Historically you start a plot strand and you tie it off after the two hours are over.

    Loved it.

much action and yes it is not the typical cookie cutter bond movie mold but it is still good.

    Craig is awesome as bond.

can't wait for the next one in 2011

The chase scene in the beginning was ridiculously terrible. The camera was moving so fast you could hardly tell what was happening. I want to cut of Paul Haggis' head and fuck his stump so he stops writing this awful US-hating shit.

Overall, decent movie, WELL under my expectations. Daniel Craig saved this movie; the same movie with Pierce Brosnan would probably be unwatchable.

I haven't seen the movie myself, but I think a lot of it has to do with the fact Marc Forster didn't want to do a Bond movie to begin with...he isn't a fan of making movies that are traditionally marketed to the general public.

Dunno what changed his mind, but I'm betting his mindset is a big factor as to why this is an atypical Bond flick.

He was head of an environmental organization that was actually monopolizing natural resources and forcing countries to pay a mark up rate for them after they receive whatever government position they were after...

At least that's what I took away from it

i loved the action and cinematics, some parts were confusing...but by the time ur like "huh" bond beats the shit outa some guy so i was like oh shit that was awesome.

the girl is really fine too.

im guessing this is like the 2nd piece of the "trilogy" which was why it was a bit abrupt, but overall i think it wasnt a bad film at all. being a big 007 fan i wasn't dissapointed or blown away but pretty satisifed overall.

i must say tho, after watching this, it makes the bourne vs. bond (in a fight) comparison pretty tough to call haha

I liked it, not as good as Craig's Casino Royale.

    Didn't Like
    1) Villain, too wimpy.
    2) The Bond Girl did nothing for me, the redhead was hotter.

    Did like
    1) Great action, car chases, and roof top fights.

I thought it was OK. Lost of action. Seemed like it was cut too short. The story especially the end needed a little more.
Alot more shaky cam this time ala Bourne movies. :o

I thought it was entertaining but I haven't seen CR in a long time so I was sort of lost in some parts...i'm not a bond expert but I thought it was worth seeing.

Yip, didn't live up to Casino Royale in terms of plot and spectacle. I hope the next one does. This one didn't grip me as much as the Casino.

I loved it. I think Daniel Craig is the best Bond ever and I love these series of Bond movies the most of them all.
