I thought it was an interesting movie, but i guess i dont much about the war or something, because i just thought it was an okay movie. I've always heard of it as the greatest hollywood movie ever made, but i dont totally agree.

At first, I thought it was just OK, too. As time passed, I think more of it as timeless classic. I should watch it again. That movie had some great quotes and perfect ending.

True, it's not Ben-Hur or Citizen Kane, but it's a great criminal drama (i guess). I recommend waiting several months before watching it again.

    very good movie.

I think you have to watch it a few times to fully appreciate it. A lot of film critics consider it to be the perfect film. If you have the DVD, watch the special features. There was a lot of really cool things that went into the making of the film.

Interesting fact about the ending: nobody knew what the ending would be until the final day of shooting.

Best quote in the whole movie: "I have already given him our best table. Knowing that he is German, he would take it anyway."

The "I'm not sticking my neck out for anybody" line was view of American global politics.
It was very anti-Nazi Germany. Many movie goers were so moved by a particular scene, that they began singing the French national anthem along with the movie.
There were recruitment tables set up outside the theaters showing this movie, needless to say, many people enlisted when there was a war going on.

It's the best, because no one realised it at the time.
