    :ugh:

the book had 2 saving graces: the character Jubal, and that the book was only 430ish pages long.

seriously, what the fuck? who liked it? explain yourselves.

I know some science fiction fans HATE this book, but I fucking loved it. What's not to enjoy?

what's not to enjoy is the lofty-as-shit style of the prose and dialogue which we are purposely not "supposed" to understand because it's badly translated from a made-up martian language. the only parts i enjoyed were when Jubal was laying the smack down on people and telling them why their ideas (about religion and art) were dumb.

don't peg me as someone who was turned off by the themes. i assure you, that's not the case.

:werd: I can't stand that book. It was the first Heinlein I ever read, and it almost totally turned me off to his writing.

They both kick large amounts of ass, so it depends on what kind of story you're in the mood for. Moon is about a guy who gets mixed up in the politics and subterfuge of a lunas colony declaring independence from and fighting a revolution against Earth.

ST is the story of a guy who joins the army right out of high school, fights a war, becomes an officer, and does a lot of growing as a person.

They are both among my favorite books.

    I disagree. I have never read a Heinlein book I didn't like.

I think the plot was non-existent for large portions of the book and the ending seemed anticlimactic. I'm happy to of read it, but I can't say I'd recommend it to many people. Starship was much better.
